The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, celebrated annually on October 17th, aims to promote understanding and dialogue between people living in poverty and the wider society.

This day is a big reminder for world organizations as Afghanistan is struggling in poverty. According to international rescue committee, Poverty in Afghanistan is impacting more than 90% of the country’s population, with over half of Afghans reliant on humanitarian aid.

Food insecurity is also the greatest threat to everyday Afghans. Currently, 40% of the country’s population are facing acute food insecurity. People are forced to make impossible choices to put food on the table, and children are at particularly increased risk of starvation, malnutrition and hunger, and preventable diseases.
